Robert Jud – Mr. Hills recommendation is persuasive
Howard Hills – LB Independent – August 31, 2020 – “He hopes that a new school board majority will foster a new environment that will welcome disagreement among board members rather than aiming for a consistently unified board.
“I don’t think that minority voices should be treated as disloyal,” Hills said. “We should value minority voices, not resent them.” –
Michelle Bainbridge – LB Resident years, Two kids in LBUSD (Thurston and TOW) Our kids deserve a change and so does Laguna. Tired of the crappy politics that hinder the best interests of our kids. I’m happy to put a sign of yours in our front yard to show support. Thanks in advance for your time. Change for our kids, change for Laguna
Chrissie Hanneline – Parent of 6 LBUSD students and graduates – Business owner
We need fresh faces and a new direction at the school board! You rock for stepping up to the plate to help fight for that needed direction & change.
Dee Perry -LBUSD educator and BOE member.
We need Sheri Morgan on our LB School Board! She has attended and spoken at many school board meetings about very important issues. I appreciate the background research she does before speaking and her courage to speak up, even if our superintendent does not agree with her viewpoint. Sheri understands the need to reform our board policies and the need for fiscal oversight as well as more collaboration with our community. We need to elect Sheri who is brave enough to stand up for what she believes is right for our children and is passionate about our Laguna Beach community.
Celine Macmillan – LBUSD parent of 2 – Former Thurston PTA and El Morro PTA President
Positive change on the school board will only happen if Sheri Morgan and Amy Kramer are elected.
Dawn Knepper – LBUSD parent of 2
I am excited for the passion and plan that Sheri will bring to our board. She is invested in a new direction.
Azadeh Baghai Purvis (former TOW teacher) –
Sheri Morgan has always been an advocate for the town, families, and kids of Laguna Beach. I have had the great pleasure of knowing Sheri as a parent in my classroom (three times), a PTA leader, and as a friend. Watching Sheri care for everyone, including me, as she would her own family is what has always set her apart. Sheri always led the way in helping me in my classroom as well as the PTA without waiting to be asked. She shares her opinion with a transparent voice and is willing to listen to others. Sheri is a go getter and wants to see things accomplished for the best of all those involved. I feel lucky to know Sheri and her family and I know the school board would be lucky to have someone like her there to help navigate what is best for the community, families and schools.
Dr. Yvette Lapayese – Mother of 3, Laguna Beach Resident
Professor of Education – Loyola Marymount University
Sheri Morgan is energized and committed to strengthening shared governance in our District. I am excited and look forward to her leading the way for open calls for LBUSD task force committees and town halls that are inclusive of students, teachers, staff, families, and our larger community. In fact, what I am most impressed by is Sherri’s focus on building an inclusive school governance model in which students play a collaborative role in providing input and feedback. We often hear, "We're doing this for the good of the students," but the fact is students are not included in district-wide decision making. I know Sheri will strive to include student perspectives and feedback at key points in the implementation of district policies. Having one student sit on the Board is insufficient. Sheri will purposefully seek and create new mechanisms to engage and listen to student voices, including those who have been underrepresented, for the wisdom they can provide.

I feel compelled to send this email out, for the sake of our Laguna Beach kids (and truly, to set precedence for all kids, once LBHS gets a grip). I am hereby advocating for Sheri Morgan, who presently runs for school board candidacy. I have known her for many years through our schools and through my own three kids, who all shared classes with her kids (she has four). I used to be very involved in all school activities and volunteering, and the many times I was present at school or meetings, EVERY TIME Sheri was there as well. Even-out-of-town sports events - whom did I run into? Sheri. What did Sheri talk about? To make a long story short, Sheri was always about school business. She has been a watchdog for more than a decade. Sheri cares about kids, not just her own, but ALL kids. Sheri is right on, no-nonsense, hands-on, truthful, hardworking, and not afraid to speak the truth, with heart and soul. She is running not for fame, ego, or future political advancement, but to share her knowledge and energy to the benefit of Laguna Beach public school kids. I am super excited that she is trying to help the community. The Laguna Beach kids (and parents) need a voice like hers !! Therefore, I am sharing this. Many of you know Sheri. Those of you who don't, or those of you who maybe do not have kids, or have your kids grown already, or have your mind set on someone else, please reconsider - SINCE YOU CARE about our kids here. I 500% know that Sheri will make a positive difference. I know Sheri would appreciate your calls in case you want to chat with her and get to know her, so that you can be convinced yourself.
